Not exactly the story of my life, but..

I spent most of my early life moving from place to place. From the time I was born until I turned 33, the longest I had lived in any house or apartment was two years.

When you move around a lot like I did, the place where you were born takes on a special significance in your life. It serves as an anchor in a rootless past. That explains why I still have a special attachment to my birthplace in Alberta.

But after living more than half my life in the same little house looking out at the Rideau River, I have come to consider Lowertown my home.
